------*UPDATE*----------(1/27/2021)No regrets!! LO is 14 months and still loves this cake! Maybe even more than before. She has figured out how to "cut" it apart and put it back together, and loves "feeding" it to her baby dolls. With the amount of time she spends playing with it, it doesn't matter that it was a little pricey at first...it is beautiful and well-constructed, and we're getting our money's worth!-----------------------------------------------------------I bought this cake for my LO's 1st bday party, since I didn't want her to have real candles yet. After paying 20 bucks for it, when it arrived I didn't even open it, but just looking at the box I could tell it was tiny. I read the reviews saying how tiny it is, but I was still disappointed. So, I started the process of returning it. BUT, before I actually mailed it back, I decided to give it to her anyway, using Bday money from her great-grandma towards it and ended up giving it to her on her birthday as we sang to her. My LO loves it! She takes all the pieces apart, and loves picking all the candles out of the cake, and replacing them. It is well built and really quite adorable! I'm pleased that she enjoys it so much. And it made for a cute birthday picture with her little cake. It has some small painting flaws that are not that noticeable, but I'm an artist, so I immediately notice that sort of thing. It gives it a hand-painted look which is charming...just wish that it was less expensive, as paying so much for it makes me more critical of the slight flaws. However, the construction is very good and the candles fit in the cake perfectly without falling over/out. Overall, great little cake, just a bit pricey. Nice if you have someone else's money to spend on it!Love everything except not a huge fan of the cardboard cake plate. The pretend play wooden candy is so cute. The shapes of the wood are that of real candy. It’s very high quality. I definitely think you get what you pay for. You also get a cute little pink/white burlap storage bag. The paint reminds me of 60s and Willy Wonka. I would definitely buy! This item is awesome. My daughter loves the colors and says they almost look like real candy from the store. We will enjoy playing with them for her cakes and candy shop.Very great quality, a lot smaller than I expected but that doesn’t matter to my 5yr old. She’s having so much fun playing shopSuper cute gift for a 1 year olds birthdayReally like the colors and the food choices.....Good quality, velcro is strong. My kids love this!My children fell in love instantly with this set. I will be buying a second because there is only one bag, and that caused the first argument haha! Then when my 17 month old realised she couldn't open the sweets it was game over haha!Everyone is now happily playing together, we all understand they are toys and not for eating. The quality is outstanding and I would definitely recommend the set to add to your role play collection. This is a sweet wooden toy. The cake and accessories are fully painted. The cake pieces Velcro together so that the cake slice can be used to cut and serve slices. Unlike a similar concept birthday cake from another wooden toy manufacturer, the candles for this don’t have any Velcro to help hold them in place. This is a pity, as the holes to hold them are quite shallow, and they knock over easily – my nephew finds it quite frustrating that he can’t carry the cake on a plate without the candles toppling. The packaging is good: a cardboard box, with tissue wrapped play pieces inside. There is a cut out section on the back of the box pre-printed as a cake base. Although I like the idea of encouraging reuse of the packaging, in this case I prefer to keep the box so that we have somewhere to store all the pieces! The cake is on the small side, with a 13cm diameter (just over 5”) and only about 4cm height before the candles are added. Colours a bit duller than they appeared on screen. Overall, a little disappointing at the price point and compared to some of the offerings from other brands. My daughter found the Le Toy series of tea party items for her two year old for his birthday. He really loved this cake to go with the red spotty tea set and the coffee machine and will spend hours cutting and handing out goodies to his family and friends. I have seen comments that this cake is rather small and difficult to cut and that the candles fall off. The whole cake is a perfect size for small hands to carry when the Velcro pieces are sticking together and if the candles fall off they give hand and eye coordination practice for the child, putting them back in place. Slightly easing the first slice apart helps with the cutting problem, but all in all, an excellent toy giving hours of fun and now my gift of choice for my grandson's friends.I own le toy van. I get drawn in my how pretty it looks and never learn my lesson. How they can charge the price they do for the quality, it is so frustrating. They used to produce good toys but now the quality is shocking. The candles don’t sit in this cake properly and the strawberry is actually orange haha. The plate is a thin cardboard which isn’t any use. They colours are not as vibrant and the cake is a funny peach. Wish I had sent back but it was for a last min birthday gift it certainly didn’t look it’s money :(the cake is dull in colour. it has felt for a flame on the candles which is a nice touch, but it is small and could have done with a proper plate to put it on rather than the cut out cardboard one that comes printed on the box for you to cut out. I will be sending it back as I've found an alternative with plate which is also bigger and brighter from lelin
